Types of show
Pick the kind of night first. Each page explains what you will sit through and lists the cities where we compare the houses.

Flamenco
A tablao show is about an hour of song, guitar and dance in a small room. The differences are in the seats, the drink and the dinner.

Cabaret
A Paris cabaret sells a revue of about 90 minutes to two hours, with champagne or dinner at a table the house assigns.

Fado
Fado is sold two ways: a long dinner in a casa de fado with short sets of songs, or a one-hour concert with no meal.

Tango
A tango dinner show is a staged evening of about four hours with transfer. A milonga is a dance hall where local people dance.

Classical concerts
These are short programmes of well-known pieces in palaces and churches, sold by seat category. Here is how to read the ticket.

Whirling dervishes
The sema is a Mevlevi religious ceremony of about an hour, watched in silence. A Turkish night dinner show is a different thing.

Samba
Rio offers samba three ways: a seated stage revue, a samba school rehearsal in its own hall, and a roda de samba in a bar.
