A night for two
Tablao Flamenco Alegría seats you at a table assigned when you book, so the two of you sit together without queueing, and it has the latest session in town at 22:30. The restaurant in the same building makes dinner before the show simple.

If you search for a flamenco show Malaga gives you a shorter list than Seville or Granada. The Civitatis catalogue we read on 4 October 2026 holds two seated shows inside the city: Tablao Flamenco Alegría, a restaurant with a tablao near La Malagueta, and Teatro Flamenco Málaga, a theatre in the old town. Both last one hour, neither includes food or drink in the ticket, and both run several sessions a day.
So the best flamenco show in Málaga is a choice between two rooms, and the facts that separate them are few and clear: how seats are given out, how late the last session starts, how many people have reviewed each one, and how late you can cancel. Other Málaga houses, such as Kelipé, El Gallo Ronco and the Peña Juan Breva museum, were not in the catalogue on that date, so they are not compared here. We have not sat in either room and nothing below judges the dancing.

Before you choose
Start with the evidence behind each score. Alegría has 9.4 out of 10 from 200 reviews. Teatro Flamenco Málaga has 9.8 from 9 reviews, which is too few to read much into. If a large sample matters to you, that settles it.
Then look at seating, because the two houses do it in opposite ways. Alegría says tables are assigned in order of reservation: the front row goes to the earliest bookings, then the second row and the side tables. Booking early is what gets you a good seat, and arriving early changes nothing. Teatro Flamenco Málaga fills its seats in strict order of arrival and advises coming 20 minutes ahead, so there a late booking can still sit at the front.
Start times differ too. The theatre lists four sessions every day, at 17:00, 18:30, 20:00 and 21:30. Alegría's English site lists 18:00, 20:00 and 22:30, and its Spanish site adds a 16:00 session, so check which times are on sale for your date. Alegría is the only one with a show after 22:00. It is also the only one with a kitchen: the restaurant sells set menus at €35 and €39 that include neither drinks nor the show, and are bought from the venue, not with the Civitatis ticket.
Three things we could not verify. Neither house publishes the number of seats in its show room (Alegría says only that its indoor halls hold up to 70 people each). Neither says whether the performance is amplified, and neither mentions a dress code. Refunds are clear: free cancellation up to one hour before at Alegría and up to 24 hours before at the theatre. There is no pick here for visitors looking for the room local aficionados use, because nothing in the published data lets us tell that apart for these two houses.
Plan
Sessions run from 17:00 to 22:30, so the time you pick decides the meal. For the 17:00 to 18:30 starts, eat afterwards. For 21:30 at the theatre or 22:30 at Alegría, eat first. Alegría's own restaurant is open until 23:00.
At Teatro Flamenco Málaga seats go in strict order of arrival and the venue advises coming 20 minutes early. At Alegría your table was assigned when you booked, and the catalogue asks you to be at the door 10 minutes before.
One hour in both rooms. The catalogue says four or five artists perform at Alegría, depending on the day. Neither house publishes rules on photos, an interval or amplification, so ask at the door before filming.
Both houses are in the centre, and the latest session ends around 23:30. Metro line 1 leaves from Atarazanas and, according to the timetable we read, runs until 23:00 from Sunday to Thursday and until 01:30 on Fridays and Saturdays, so after a late show on a weeknight plan to walk or take a taxi.
Where
Tablao Flamenco Alegría is at Calle Vélez-Málaga 6, between the port and the beach, with a terrace facing the Centre Pompidou. It is a restaurant with a tablao room. The venue puts it about 10 minutes on foot from the cathedral and 12 from Malagueta beach.
Teatro Flamenco Málaga is at Calle Lazcano 5, in the pedestrian old town. It is a theatre with rows of seats and no tables, and the ticket is admission only, so dinner means one of the streets around it before or after.
Both shows on this page last 60 minutes. That is the performance only. Allow extra time at Teatro Flamenco Málaga, which advises arriving 20 minutes early because seats are taken in order of arrival.
Neither Civitatis ticket includes dinner or a drink. Alegría has a restaurant on site with set menus at €35 and €39, drinks and show not included, which you arrange with the venue. Teatro Flamenco Málaga sells admission only. Eating elsewhere and booking the show alone costs you nothing in seat quality at the theatre, and at Alegría seats depend on when you booked.
At Alegría, yes if you care where you sit: tables are assigned in order of reservation and the front row goes first. At Teatro Flamenco Málaga the seat depends on when you arrive, though Civitatis stops taking bookings one hour before the session. Both can be cancelled free of charge, so booking ahead carries little risk.
Yes. Neither house states a minimum age and both list child rates: ages 7 to 12 and under 7 at Alegría, ages 6 to 12 and under 6 at Teatro Flamenco Málaga. The theatre asks that children under 12 are accompanied by an adult. The earliest sessions are 17:00 at the theatre and 18:00 at Alegría.
Neither venue publishes a dress code and the catalogue mentions none. These are one-hour shows in a tablao and a small theatre, with no stated rule against daytime clothes.
Yes, for both when booked through Civitatis. Alegría allows free cancellation up to one hour before the show. Teatro Flamenco Málaga allows it up to 24 hours before. After the deadline, or if you do not turn up, there is no refund.
